Why Joshi was made India's New Education Minister

The next election will be a war between the cockroaches vs. the non-cockroaches; a fight the CJI Surya Kant will love.

The moment the BJP accepted CJPs proposals marked the beginning of my scepticism and Joshi’s appointment brought this period of scepticism to an end. I was having a hard time digesting the fact that a government that has staunchly stood in favour of suppressing dissent and using violent measures for the “welfare of the society” had seriously accepted the CJP’s non-negotiables that were Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, financial assistance for the families of those students who had committed suicide. 

When Prahlad Joshi was made India's new education minister he was the existing minister of Food, consumer affairs and public distribution as well as renewable and non renewable energy since 2024 which made the ministry of education an added responsibility.

What is the logic of giving in Rahul Gandhi’s words and rightly so “the filthiest man the BJP could pick” - at least one of them - a major ministry as an added responsibility especially when it is under public scrutiny? The move is intentional. Management is going to be challenging and is bound to cost the ministries some sort of lapse, that will give the BJP a reason to remove him later on and bring back Pradhan on the grounds of mismanagement. 

By appointing him as the education minister the BJP is trying to mock US - the Gen Zs (When I say US, I genuinely mean that I am a Gen z. I was born in 2004 unlike the Gen Zs who were born in the 1970s, a trend I’ll discuss in a later piece) - an action that’s not very alien to us. The only plausible explanation for this move is that by doing so the BJP is trying to show what a fool us young people are that by demanding reforms in a country that is being run by our money and labour and sweat, and by protesting and creating chaos, we have disturbed the country’s peace framing us as the ultimate anti-nationals. Owing to this a responsible and holier-than-thou man was forced to resign. That’s at least in my opinion the larger feeling. But in reality the BJP wants something to go wrong so that it can prove us Gen-Zs stupid. And Pradhan will be at the centre of this gameshow. Because why will a party in majority with hundreds of other unqualified ministers give this man 3 important portfolios that will definitely lead to mismanagement? It is because the BJP has not become serious about the student’s sufferings.

But through all the ups and downs, a classic usual was how the BJP was able to maintain its voter base. After his viral fraaaanndss reel, a girl I used to go to college with put up a story saying that she always had faith in the honourable prime minister and it was shameful what the literate so called cockroaches were doing on the streets. Through the epic reel move, Narendra Modi was once again able to maintain its Gen-Z voter base as well as the uncles and aunties next door. 

All in all, the BJP’s move is evil and comes at a crucial point. The next election will be a war between the cockroaches vs. the non-cockroaches; a fight the CJI Surya Kant will love. That is obviously until the BJP decided to rig the elections (once again). In such a situation I turn to Abhijeet Dipke’s (the CJP leader) words that since we did not have to struggle for democracy we don’t value it enough. It’s true, when India had the opportunity to stand and be an example of Democracy the voters went & threw it right in the gutter. In a country with irrational voters, no amount of democratic freedom can save them from destruction. That’s exactly where India is right now. Kudos to CJP, as a pressure group was able to re-invoke in the hearts of people empathy to a great extent. The voter now has to wake up and fight for a better system from all the parties in power regardless of its orientation. 

The way ahead is only one: Congress needs internal reforms. Until and unless the congress does not choose better & early campaigning with stronger internal and ideological reforms, the way ahead is only BJP. That is until a new party comes up. And the writer feels that Priyanka Gandhi should lead the next elections. As a strong orator in a country which has a history of impactful women PMs and other leaders, Priyanka Gandhi will be a strong, more competent contender.
