Prashant Kishor: Abki haar BJP ke naam

India's electoral atmosphere just found an answer to its next election: The answer is a third party that they trust a little versus parties that they absolutely trust to not to do anything. Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj Party proved to be one such party. 

Prashant Kishor's win in Bankipur is not about Prashant Kishor's win, it's more about the BJP losing a seat that the same family had been contesting on its ticket for the last 30 years.

The man Prashant Kishor appears to be a realistically ideological person. His own skeptical nature perhaps became his eyes in assessing the voters in Bihar by identifying hopelessness in politics as the primary concern, something that the CJP’s founder Abhijeet Dipke has also accepted. 

As a political strategist Prashant Kishor has worked closely with the BJP government and has been prominent in formulating several impactful projects including Mann ki baat. He was also the mind behind boosting Narendra Modi’s political image in the 2014 elections by literally spreading his ideals through the holograms. 

But Prashant Kishor was never one to stay politically tied down for long. After parting ways with the BJP, he helped engineer the JD(U)-RJD alliance that defeated the party in Bihar's 2015 Assembly elections before joining the JD(U) himself as its national vice-president. It turned out to be a short chapter when in 2020, he resigned from the party over its support for the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), one of the BJP government's most contentious legislations.

Now when the then one-of-the-most sought after strategists in politics decided to contest Bihar’s 2025 state elections, his debut turned out to be a disaster when his party lost, raising many eyebrows as his votes fell. 

But after winning with almost 19,000 votes, Prashant Kishor has managed to make a glorious comeback in the political world, possibly inaugurating a life of substantial positions in Bihar. 

The results of Bankipur’s by-election have proven to be a symbol of the country’s overall political atmosphere where if we are to believe Prashant Kishor’s words Gen-Zs were not the majority voters. His win is credited to his strategic brain, master analysis and the BJP as well as the INC’s collective failure to secure realistic ambitions for the country’s development.

The country including the INC that does not miss a single opportunity of virtue signalling has for the most part unfairly looked poorly down on Bihar. From migration to its casteism, Biharis have always had to face a certain exclusion in the outside world and these are exactly the kind of emotions that got invoked with Prashant Kishor's recent political fight. 

Kishor has also talked about educational reforms and he has also supported the CJP, citing that this is just the beginning of a reform. He has expressed his desire of opening schools in each district and concentrating the students in both private as well as public schools. 

Having worked with major political parties, Prashant Kishor is aware of how these political parties lose, what the weakest points are and perhaps he was the most correct in identifying the biggest point which is that of all the major parties none are concerned about the public's welfare. 

Poverty has two main concerns: Income & employment. Kishor has firmly kept this at the centre of his campaigns. He has also attempted to bring forth institutional corruption in elections. Many people were detained right before the elections and harassed. These issues were firmly dealt with and transparently discussed in press conferences. 

The main catch here is of course the BJP's loss. After 30 years, a seat from which Nitin Nabbin, the Bhartiya Janta Party’s serving president also contested elections from and won before getting appointed to the upper house of the parliament. 

The BJP had made slogans saying they’ll win that seat even if they elect dogs and cats for it essentially emphasizing on the BJP’s ownership of the Bankipur seat. 

It definitely shows the larger emotion of the political base that the people are desperate to get rid the two biggest parties, that is the INC or the BJP, because in place of the BJP, they did not vote for the Congress as they are not willing for Lalu Yadav or even Tejashwi Yadav to make a comeback. 

The Biharis are clearly done with jungles and they are paving way for corruption free democracy to finally enter Bihar. The people are showing their inclination to sustainable democratic development in the state and they are putting their faith in the system with people like Prashant Kishore really taking the lead. 

People are focused mostly on the BJP’s loss versus Prashant Kishore’s win. One must remember that Prashant Kishore has won this seat. So, Prashant Kishore also needs to prove himself if he really wants to make Jan Suraaj, the next big thing in Bihar. 

Having contested and lost state elections once Prashant Kishore has been able to make a significant and remarkable comeback. It will be interesting to watch Prashant Kishore's growth in Bihar and what he does with his Bankipur seat. Whether or not Prashant Kishore turns out to be one of the strongest chief ministers of Bihar, that only time will tell. 

But for the time being, it is safe to assume that Prashant Kishore is definitely a strong contender, a strong opposition and many eyes are going to watch him in the next Bihar state elections.
